Clean Energy Program (CEP)

PASDO Clean Energy Program

Access to reliable and sustainable energy remains a critical challenge in many communities worldwide, particularly in rural and underserved areas. A lack of affordable and clean energy limits economic opportunities, reduces productivity, and affects access to education and healthcare. Traditional energy sources, such as diesel generators or inefficient incandescent lighting, contribute to high energy costs, greenhouse gas emissions, and environmental degradation. Households, small businesses, and schools often struggle with inconsistent power supply, which restricts their ability to operate effectively, preserve perishable goods, or engage in activities that require electricity.

The consequences of energy poverty are far-reaching. Without access to clean energy, communities experience higher exposure to pollution and health risks, reduced income-generating opportunities, and diminished quality of life. Women and children are particularly affected, as time spent collecting fuel or dealing with unreliable power limits their engagement in education, vocational activities, and household management. At the same time, the overreliance on fossil fuels accelerates climate change, affecting the very communities already facing energy scarcity.

PASDO’s Clean Energy Program addresses these challenges through a combination of infrastructure support, capacity building, and public education. The program promotes the adoption of renewable energy technologies, including solar-powered systems for homes, schools, and community centers. By providing communities with access to affordable, sustainable energy solutions, PASDO helps reduce reliance on polluting energy sources while improving economic productivity and quality of life. The program also encourages energy efficiency, including the use of energy-saving lighting and devices, which can drastically reduce electricity consumption while lowering costs for households and small enterprises.

In addition to infrastructure, the Clean Energy Program focuses on education and skills development. PASDO conducts community awareness campaigns to highlight the benefits of renewable energy, helping individuals and businesses understand available technologies and make informed energy choices. The program also trains young people as renewable energy technicians, equipping them with practical skills that enhance employability and support local energy adoption. By combining hands-on training, public awareness, and access to technology, PASDO empowers communities to transition toward sustainable, low-carbon energy solutions.

Implemented in communities where energy access is limited and renewable energy adoption is a priority, the Clean Energy Program is tailored to local needs, resources, and partnerships.

Due to limited staffing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are not able to concurrently run some programs and have therefore temporarily suspended them (and removed them here). They include the Information, Leadership and Skill literacy (ILS) Project , the Sustainable Aquaculture Supply in West and Central Africa (SASWeCA) Project, the Learn Chinese Project (LCP) and others. We’d appreciate responding to service inquires on them only after they are restored.
