Terms and Conditions for Donations

Effective Date: January 1, 2023

Thank you for considering a donation to PASDO.

Your support is critical to advancing our mission of empowering vulnerable communities across Africa.

Please review the following terms and conditions governing your generous contribution, and only proceed to donate if you agree with all the conditions.

Nature and Purpose of Donations

All donations made to PASDO are considered unrestricted gifts unless specifically stated otherwise.

While donors may express a preference for the use of their donation toward a particular program, PASDO reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to allocate all funds in a manner it deems most effective for advancing its mission and addressing critical needs on the ground.

Donations toward specific programs are treated as preferences and not binding instructions. Full sponsorships (e.g., sponsorship of a borehole, classroom, vocational center) are exceptions where the donation fully covers the amount needed to fully execute the specified project.

Fund Pooling and Utilization Timing

PASDO may pool donations directed toward similar causes in designated funds. These pooled resources are deployed when sufficient funds are available to execute impactful interventions or when urgent situations necessitate earlier deployment.

PASDO retains the discretion to determine the appropriate timing and manner of utilization based on field realities, community needs, and organizational priorities.

Emergency Reallocation Policy

In emergency situations, PASDO may reallocate donations across program areas to respond to critical needs, such as urgent medical interventions, life-saving operations, or disaster responses. For instance, if an immediate life-threatening situation arises requiring urgent funds, PASDO may utilize donations initially designated for a different program to address the emergency.

Such flexibility ensures that donor contributions create the greatest possible impact.

Administration and Processing Costs

A  portion of each donation may be allocated to cover administrative expenses, banking charges, payment gateway fees, and operational costs, ensuring the sustainability of PASDO’s programs and organizational infrastructure.

Legacy Projects and Named Sponsorships

Donations toward Legacy Projects—such as construction of boreholes, classrooms, vocational centers, and medical facilities—are treated as restricted gifts dedicated solely to the completion of the sponsored project (provided that the donated amount is large enough to fully cover the cost of fully completing the project).

Upon completion, these projects are owned and managed by PASDO, with strong emphasis on long-term community sustainability. Naming rights and public recognition are available for such projects unless anonymity is requested by the donor.

Project Naming and Recognition

PASDO will make every reasonable effort to name sponsored projects after the donor or in accordance with the donor’s wishes when requested. However, PASDO shall not be liable for any inability to fulfill such naming requests. Factors such as community dynamics, cultural sensitivities, or refusal by community members or local stakeholders may prevent project naming as requested.
While there is generally a high level of cooperation from communities, donors understand and accept that PASDO cannot guarantee project naming under all circumstances.

Refund Policy

Donations are considered final and non-refundable. In exceptional cases where an administrative error has occurred, PASDO may consider refund requests at its sole discretion.

Tax Deductibility

Unless otherwise explicitly stated, donations made to PASDO — whether through the PASDO website, bank transfers, or other channels — are not tax deductible.
Donors based in the United States who seek tax-deductible giving options should contact PASDO directly to discuss alternative arrangements that may make their donation tax deductible.

Donor Recognition and Communication

By making a donation, you consent to PASDO acknowledging your contribution in public forums, reports, or events unless you explicitly request anonymity. Donors, particularly those funding Legacy Projects, may also be invited to commissioning ceremonies or provided updates on the project status.

Oversight and EscrowLock PRODASS (Optional)

Donors who wish to exercise some level of oversight during the execution of their sponsored projects may opt to route their project donations through EscrowLock PRODASS (Project Delivery Assurance System) instead of transferring the funds directly to PASDO.
Under this system:

  • Funds are released to PASDO in about three batches.

  • EscrowLock conducts field monitoring and ensures judicious use of each released installment before authorizing subsequent releases.

  • This oversight service incurs an additional charge of 10% of the total project amount, payable by the donor.

  • Participation in EscrowLock PRODASS is optional and subject to separate terms between the donor and EscrowLock.

Legal Jurisdiction

By donating to PASDO, you agree that any disputes or legal issues arising from your donation or from related projects shall be governed exclusively by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Any legal action must be brought solely before the courts located in Abuja, Nigeria, and donors waive any right to litigate elsewhere.

Changes to Terms and Conditions

PASDO reserves the right to amend these Donation Terms and Conditions at any time. Updates will be posted on the official PASDO website. Continued donations after changes constitute acceptance of the updated Terms.

Thank you once again for your commitment to making a real difference.
